The Ancient Creep was a thing my daughter said to me one night at bed time when she was around 4 or 5. She says to me, “Dada, have you ever heard of the ancient creep?” and my brain immediately thought it sounded like one of E.C. Comics titles like Tales from the Crypt or Vault of Horror. So I drew it to look like that.

A lot of what I end up drawing is inspired by music (a lot of punk, hardcore, and metal), but also old halloween decorations, and horror & monster movies. A few years back I really took a dive into Famous Monsters of Filmland Magazine and was immensely inspired by the crusty monster lettering that graced the cover of the magazines. Along with some of the illustrated covers by Basil Gogos. While I recognize that the subject matter is not always other people’s thing, it spoke to me in ways that a lot of modern day design didn’t.
